Investigative journalism

I have been involved in investigative journalism for the whole of my career, including four high-profile murder cases.

My work has been featured on BBC2’s Rough Justice, London Weekend Television and the Press Gazette. And I have worked on assignments for the News of the World, ITV, the Sunday Mirror and the local media.

One investigation resulted in two men being released for a miscarriage of justice after an investigation and campaign that lasted 25 years.

Two other men were jailed as a direct result of my investigations.

I still do assignments, advise young investigative journalism and run training courses in investigative journalism.

I have run practical sessions in investigative journalism for:

  • Manchester Evening News
  • Birmingham Post and Mail
  • Liverpool Daily Post and Echo
  • Ipswich Evening Star
  • Wales on Sunday
  • Western Mail
  • East Anglian Daily Times
  • Essex Enquirer
  • Kent News and Picture Agency
  • Birmingham Sunday Mercury
  • Coventry Evening Telegraph
  • Daily Echo, Southampton

My distance learning college, CTJT, runs an investigative journalism course

And I work with more experienced investigative journalists through my career coaching programme
